The story of Blanco Deodorant

Kawakawa, Bergamot and Lime, to calm perspiration and neutralise odour. Just Roll.
Blanco | Triumph & Disaster
Blanco played number 15, a free running, rugby fullback, traditionally the last line of defense, a safe pair of hands at the back. But Blanco was no ordinary fullback. Blanco played with a flair unknown at that time, (the 80’s), he played with a freedom that approached reckless abandon, you held your breath every time he touched the ball, magic could happen when Blanco was on the pitch.

Blanco was/is French, the enemy, a foe that could topple my team, yet Blanco was my man, I loved watching him and secretly I supported him even more than I supported my own team.

  WHY WE MADE IT

When we made our new deodorant it was a safe pair of hands, a product to have your back, a natural, effortless product with a light touch that we had in mind. Blanco we thought, because its white and represents purity and honesty of ingredients as well as the unique neutral fragrance we have conjured. But it was also Blanco the great, that flair, artistry, courage and undefinable quality, that is something like intuition, wrapped in instinct, rolled in a willingness to let fate play its hand and trust the consequences, all of this was Blanco. All of this is the forms the philosophy behind Blanco a deodorant by Triumph & Disaster.

A few things you should know

1/ Kawakawa Bergamot and Lime combine with organic Lavender and the natural benefits of Sodium Bicarbonate to calm perspiration and neutralise our body’s odour.
2/ Calms sweat and attacks odour, without halting the bodies natural excretion or heating system. We do this by reducing the bacteria on our skin, but only the ones that create odour.
3/ Baking soda is alkaline, meaning it counteracts the bacteria-loving acids in sweat and acts as a natural balancing agent for armpit odour.

Key ingredients

Kawakawa
--
Kawakawa in Mãori refers to the bitter taste of the leaves, from
kawa meaning bitter. Kawakawa or NZ Pepper Tree was one of the most important plants in Rongoa (medicine), Mãori used it externally for cuts, wounds and bruises and also applied it as a treatment for toothache, nettle stings and eczema. All of which leads us to believe that it makes for a great ingredient in a natural deodorant.

Kawakawa is an entire plant pharmacy in itself, capable of many different actions that make it useful for a wide array of conditions. The variety of active constituents in Kawakawa make it a complex and powerful medicine, but one that is readily accessible, as anyone who has made a fresh Kawakawa tea will tell you! It was used as a ‘tea’ by early European settlers who were awaiting shipments of black tea, and prized as a pick me up for these hard workers. While it doesn’t contain caffeine like tea does, it is known as a refreshing, rejuvenating and uplifting tonic to improve energy and stamina.

Some of the keys of Kawakawa are:
- Reduces inflammation and irritation
- Reduces cramping, spasm, bloating and digestive pain
- Anti-microbial
- Improves circulation
Bergamot
--
Bergamot oil is extracted from the rinds of the Citrus bergamia plant. Common throughout the Mediterranean, the fruit is the size of an orange, yet similar in colour to a lime. Like other citrus fruits, bergamot has a distinctive  fragrance that gives off a distinctive top note that combines with natural compounds in the oil to deliver antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, all of which we exploit in Blanco.
 Lime
--
Lime oil has astringent, cleansing and toning effects for oily, congested or acne-prone skin. It is also used for sores, fungal conditions and warts, it can be used in formulations for greasy hair and in our case deodorant. It’s like that clever ambidextrous friend you have who can play all sports and is handsome and funny too.

 HOW TO USE IT

We say it's good to sweat. Shake before use - apply daily (as often as needed).
